Gingerbread Boy and Girl!

I have no time at all to post on a daily basis anymore:( So instead I decided just to post all the lunches once a week until I have time to do it everyday again. And here they are:

Red-nosed Reindeer!
I let the kids make their own lunches this morning:) And they both made reindeer, one with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the other with a quesadilla. Along with the reindeer they had mandarin oranges, pineapple, and cucumber slices.

Corndogs
I just cut up the corndog into cute little rings and stacked it like sushi. There is ketchup for dipping and a handful of camel corn on the top tier and fruit and veggies on the bottom tier.

Turkey wraps!
Turkey wraps, a banana, pineapple, Cheetos and some fresh veggies

Same for Z without the banana:)

Gingerbread Boy and Girl!
Aren't these cute?! They are just cut out sandwiches decorated with a few tiny sprinkles and frosting. And I also packed some chicken nuggets and oranges. Alaysia got a pudding cup too.

Snowman Pita Pocket

I'm finally back into making the kiddos lunches after my much needed vacation last week:) We all had a blast at Disneyland! I feel like the kiddos are finally big enough to appreciate the trip and to be able to enjoy all the shows and rides.
Any-who, I made my kiddos lunches for Monday and Tuesday but hadn't gotten around to posting because we put up our tree right next to the computer and, well, I've just been kinda lazy too^_^ I finally got into the holiday theme today and made them snowmen made out of mini pitas. I even gave them a cute little carrot nose! He is filled with turkey ham, lettuce, and cheese. He's got a cheese hat, pretzel arms and is joined by his little snowgrape buddies. I also added a few more crapes and some mini cinnamon cookies ( but that didn't look very nice in the picture:)

*  *   *    *    *

And this was for Tuesday. They had a bagel sandwich, half an orange, carrots, and some grapes

*     *     *     *     *

And finally, this was Monday's lunch. Another sandwich... this one was strawberry chream cheese and the last of my strawberries. Wheat thins and Mickey Mouse pretzels left over from our trip, grapes and cucumber slices. Now I need to get a little more creative because I HATE sandwiches:D!!!

Turkeys..Gobble...Gobble...

Tuesday Nov. 23rd
My son's kindergarten class sings a son called "Turkey in the Straw" so thats what I attempted to make for his lunch today. And since my daughter saw how cute they looked she wanted one too...
Z has 3 little turkey meatballs with tortilla tail feathers, a cheese face, and sprinkle for a beak and I used shredded carrot as the straw:) Some mandarin oranges with pineapple, grapes and sugar snap peas.

Aren't they cute?!?

Chicken Salad

Monday Nov. 22nd
This is going to be another busy week. The kiddos are only having lunch on Monday and Tuesday of this week because they are havinga feast at school on Wednesday. Then we are off on vacation for a week to Disneyland so this will be my last post until December:( but, Yay! We get to go on a much needed family vacation!! Any-who on the lunches...
This is Alaysia's lunch, she has chicken salad, ham and cheese kabobs, grapes, crackers, sugar snap peas and of course a piece of her birthday cake from Sunday:)

And Z's mini version as usual.

Octo-weenies and fried rice

My oh my what a busy week last week! I had my daughters birthday party so I wasn't able to post anything since Friday. But I did take pictures to share this is for Friday Nov. 19th...
The kids had octo-weenies over a bed of fried rice, mandarin oranges, pineapple, grapes, broccoli, and carrot flowers.

Z's mini lunch:)

And this was the reason I was soo busy... My daughter wanted a pretty princess cake to go along with her party theme...
Happy Birthday to my Princess Alaysia!!!!

BBQ Chicken and Ricecars

 Wednesday Nov. 17th

We got a new grill for or deck a few days ago so my hubby and I have been on a grilling spree:) I know it's not the usual time or season for BBQing but its just like getting a fun new toy, and all I want to do lately is play with it lol! And since the kiddos LOVE drumsticks thats what we made for dinner last night along with tons of grilled veggies. I also made a pineapple BBQ sauce for them and the kids loved it! I made sure to grill a few extra because I think they look so cute in their lunch boxes ^_^
Alyasia's box has the drumstick, grapes, cauliflower, mandarin oranges, rice shaped cars, and the usual sugar snap peas and carrots.
Z was so excited about the "ricecars" (instead of racecars) that he destroyed three of them by racing them around the counter and making them crash into his mouth before I could get one into his box:) So thats why he only got one for his lunch box along with grapes, cauliflower and his veggies.

Turkey Burritos

Tuesday Nov. 16th
The night before I had made turkey tacos for dinner and I made sure to save two spoonfuls for lunch this morning.  I just wrapped the meat up in a flour tortilla with a little rice and beans to make the burritos. Since they were made of turkey and Thanksgiving is coming up I  thought I'd add a little cheese turkey to the top:) Along with the burrito I packed some mandarin oranges, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, pineapple chunks, sugar snap peas and carrots flowers.

Pasta

Monday Nov. 15th

This morning I was limited to going into my freezer stash for lunch ideas since I didn't have many fresh ingredients to work with. The result was a not so colorful happy lunch, but still something I was very happy to send my kiddos to school with. I made Alaysia the last of our homemade tortellini and my little carnivore didn't want any because they weren't stuffed with meat lol! So instead he had mini shell pasta with marinara. I only had a lone little pear in my fridge for the fruit and used canned pineapple, I did have plenty of fresh veggies for them though:)
In pink is Alaysia's lunch the top tier had the cheese tortellini, bottom has cucumber, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, sliced green pear, pineapple and homemade banana bread. And her bear container has strawberry yogurt.
Z's has the mini shell pasta and the same fruits and veggies as her sister except for the yogurt.

This morning my kitchen was very dark and gloomy for some reason so the pictures aren't very good:( Maybe it was the lack of freshness in the kitchen :D

Turkey Wraps

Wednesday Nov. 10th

Not feeling too good this morning:( I must have caught what the kiddos had  few days ago. And I'm sure it doesn't help that I go help my son's kindergarten class full of coughing and sneezing children:D  Anywho, I'm just going to get to the lunches for toady so I can go take a nap with my little man....

Here's Z's lunch he has a turkey wrap filled with cream cheese, turkey, shredded colby jack cheese, lettuce and carrot. A couple of figs, crackers, mandarin orange, pomegranate and the usual veggies carrot and sugar snap peas.
Since Alaysia is older and has an actual lunch hour she gets a little more .

Encore Empanadas

Tuesday, Nov.9th

Since all of the empanadas I made last time vanished, my son and I made a new batch last night. We stuffed them with meat this time and had some left over masa so we made some all cheese ones too. I was hoping to be able to save a few this time to stash in the freezer for those rushed mornings when I only have a few minutes for the kiddos lunches. And I am happy to say that I did get to save some:) even after they gobbled up 3 each for dinner last night and 3 more for todays lunch.
In her box today she has 3 emanada halves two meat and one cheese, along with oranges, grapes and the usual veggies carrots and sugar snap peas. In her bear container she has some yogurt and a sweet treat from her candy stash. I've really been wanting to order some dividers for their boxes but since I haven't done it yet I've been  improvising with some of the kiddos favorite characters printed on thick card stock paper. She loves Nightmare Before Christmas, and anything with pink skulls or punk-ish (if thats even a word).. I think they came out pretty nice! The only thing is they aren't very reusable though:(

And here's Z's smaller box with ninja turtles....Turtle Power!!!

Three Cheese Tortellini & Chicken Taquitos

Monday Nov. 8th

Happy Monday everyone! This past week just seemed to drag along, Z spent almost the whole week home sick and Alaysia has caught the bug now too. And since this week the kids only have 3 days of school because of Veterans day I'm hoping that Alaysia will be well enough to attend the whole week.
Since she was still feeling a little under the weather I made her one of her favorites for lunch...tortellini! I had made these tortellini before and totally forgot that Z didn't like them so I had to pack him some chicken taquitos:) These were both rather simple lunches since I just had to boil the pasta and reheat the frozen taquitos. Then I just added some fresh fruit and viola a cute and satisfying lunch for two..
For Alaysia's lunch I just tossed the hot tortellini with a little butter and herbs, she also has cucumber, orange, black berries, grapes, and sugar snap peas.

Z has chicken two taquitos, orange, cucumber, black berries and a couple of grapes.

Empanadas

Friday Nov. 5th

Well yesterday I had out my press that I used for making sandwiches and thought I would try and make some empanadas for dinner. And yippy! They turned out really really good, which was a good thing because I made a bunch of them:) I stuffed them with a chicken filling and for the kiddos I also added some cheese. I served the along with beans and red rice which I made extra of because it's great for their lunch boxes and my littlest guy loves it too. All of the extra emanadas didn't end up lasting as long as I thought they would because I sent some off with Grandma and I used the rest for these lunch boxes:( but that just means they were a hit and I will have to make more!!!
This box was for Alaysia she has red rice, two empanadas, green grapes, black berries, carrots and sugar snap peas.

Z has one empanada cut in half, grapes, carrots and sugar snap peas along with peach yogurt with sprinkles
And here is Daddy's lunch:) He has a mixed spinach and romaine salad, two empanadas, carrots and sugar snaps peas, a few grapes and blackberries and some ranch for his salad.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Dumplings

Thursday Nov. 4th

This morning Alaysia insisted on having potstickers but I made her a peanut butter and homemade strawberry jelly version instead:) she got two for her lunch along with carrot, tomato, ham and cheese kabobs, watermelon, green pear, and some Halloween candy.

So I bought the awesome little presses the a while ago and haven't had time to use them as much as I thought I would. And today was the perfect time to and since I took them out I'm hoping to try and use them to make some emanadas tonight. And if they turn out you may see them in their lunch tomorrow:)

Chicken Potstickers

Wednesday Nov. 3rd

Another solo day of school for Alaysia since Z was still not feeling well enough to go to school. That doesn't mean that he didn't want his lunch packed too^_^ The top white tier has five potstickers and some dipping sauce. Bottom yellow tier has a few baby carrots and sugar snap peas to fill in gaps, orange segments, watermelon cubes and two mini chocolate chip cookies. Z had the same but I didn't take a picture.

Veggie. Ham and Cheese Frittata

Tuesday Nov. 2nd

This morning I only had to pack one lunch because my little man stayed home sick from school,he has a cough and his asthma is acting up too:( It's a good thing it doesn't affect his appetite though! So i went ahead and made them both their frittatas this morning but Z had his for breakfast instead packing it for lunch. I really like making these because my kids can make their own personal frittatas all by them selves, they can add much or as little as they choose. Especially since they ALWAYS want the opposite of whatever the other one is having:)
So Miss Alaysia had some cucumber slices, a tiny tomato slices to fill in the gaps along with carrots and sweat peas, mandarin oranges, watermelon, her veggie, ham and cheese fritatta and of course some Halloween candy:) All inside her new Hello Kitty lunch bag she finally got in the mail yesterday.

Simple sandwiches

Monday Nov. 1st

Oh my I woke up sooo late this morning:) I got up at 7:30 so this was literally a 5min lunch!! My poor kids were sound asleep, I had to get them up, dressed, and feed by 7:50 then out the door we went!! The only reason I actually got it pictured was because the camera was left on the table from the night before:) and here it is...

Eye balls!

Friday Oct. 29th

This was the kids last Halloween lunch:( I had been up till around 2am the night before making my littlest ones's Birthday cake so it wasn't all that exciting plus I knew the kids would end up eating a bunch of snacks at school this day...
Eyeball turkey meatballs, watermelon, cucumber and carrots.

Same thing with more eyes for Alaysia.

And here's a few pictures of my "little monster's" first Birthday cakes...

Franken-sandwich

Thursday Oct. 28th

I'm making my little man's Birthday cakes and I just put one into the oven so I thought I'd post before I wouldn't have time to later:o) Well for today I thought I'd try to make a Frankenstein of some sort, and it has been a while since I gave the kids a sandwich for lunch. So the first thing I did for the sandwich was paint the bread green with food coloring. The hair is nori which I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my kids actually like! And his eyes are cheese circles with nori pupils. I also used cauliflower for the bolts.  Alaysia's-->
has some kiwi, orange, broccoli and a tiny box of nerds.

Here's Z's with raisins instead of kiwi.

Spiders!!

Wednesday Oct. 27th

Can't believe that October is almost over:( I've been having so much fun with these spooky inspired lunches. We'll have to think of some extra special lunches to end this week off before Halloween!! But I'm not too sad because there are more holidays coming up and that means more cute lunches to come!
This morning I made the kids some more sausage "spiders" and they came out looking a lot better than last time...
So today Miss Alaysia has some sausage spiders over white rice, some brocoli and cauliflower,  pineapple and jack-o-carrots!

Z again has the same in a smaller portion.
